POSITION: Delivery Helper (Swamper)

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a contractual position. 40 hours/week, varies week to week depending on the events, weekends and evenings are a must for event set up and tear down. There is a possibility of contract extension.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR: We are looking for someone to assist our drivers during deliveries and late night retrievals as well as loading and unloading trucks. There are also various projects like cleaning and keeping the warehouse organized, ensuring that our tools and supplies are restocked properly and are in good working condition, etc. We are a small business which means we need people that are willing to wear many hats and perform various duties.

You will be the face of our company on deliveries. We are looking for someone who cares about legendary customer service with a passion for providing exceptional client experiences. This includes a professional appearance, strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication. Even our purple truck says “be kind”.

You will work closely with our drivers, the warehouse manager, logistics manager, rentals and design team who are working around the clock on events. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • General warehouse organization and cleanliness
  • Loading, unloading and moving inventory by hand, dolly, or basic material handling
  • Verifying orders as described on packing slips/delivery notifications
  • Organize and load orders on trucks
  • Assist in delivery and retrieving  in vehicles sizing up to 26’
  • Communicate with the Warehouse Manager and Office Team to ensure smooth processes and happy clients.
  • Wedding, Event, Home Staging, & Interior Decor simple set ups (including, but not limited to: loading, unloading, packing/unpacking items, setting up arches, backdrops, assembling furniture pieces, such as beds, couches, chairs, tables, desks, shelving, etc.)
  • Wedding, Event, Home Staging & Interior Decor tear down (carefully disassembling, & re-packing decor, loading & unloading).

WHAT YOU’LL BRING ALONG: 

  • MANDATORY: Valid BC class 5 driver’s license 
  • MANDATORY: Organized and loves the hustle
  • MANDATORY: Self starter and strong attention to detail
  • MANDATORY: Team player with a positive attitude 
  • MANDATORY: Experience and ability to drive up to a 26’ truck
  • MANDATORY: Must have a clean driving record and display good driving habits
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
  • Interact at a high level of professionalism with clients and colleagues to build and maintain positive, supportive and respectful relationships
  • Ability to safely lift delicate and heavy furniture
  • Thoughtful and resourceful in stressful situations 
  • Willing to learn and adapt in a fast paced environment 
  • Must have a reliable source of transportation especially for late night deliveries (as transit will not be available)

Please Note: This is a labor intensive position, so you must be physically able to work on your feet while lifting heavy objects for an 8 hour period.

ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES: As a Delivery Helper, you can grow as a Driver if you enjoy being on the trucks, however, you also have the opportunity to grow within the Warehouse Department. This department deals with the various processes of safety while operating in a warehouse, troubleshooting storage solutions, etc.

WHO WE ARE: We are Bespoke Decor, Habitat and Calikko!

Bespoke Decor is a growing design and rental company based in Burnaby.  We design and serve hundreds of events ranging from weddings to corporate gatherings and film productions. 

Secondly, Habitat Staging is one of our sister companies established in September of 2020. Habitat provides design and staging services for homes. Our services are provided throughout the lower mainland from a small condo to a large home.

Lastly, Calikko is our 2nd sister retail company and was established in March of 2021. Calikko provides home goods and essentials that you can purchase.
