How to shop vintage for your wedding

It’s no secret that I love Vintage Themed Weddings. And if you’ve looked at pinterest lately, it’s no secret why: it’s flippin’ adorable. I also love bohemian, rustic and backyard weddings. I find them incredibly romantic and timeless. These weddings are all the details.

I adore my job and think I’m incredibly lucky because I get to search high and low for the best vintage décor I can find for weddings and events. It never gets dull because everything is different with its own unique history and story. I love the idea of these items being given a second life on such beautiful and important days.

There are a few things to keep in mind while shopping for your own Vintage, Rustic or Backyard wedding. Here are a few tips and tricks I have learned along the way:

1. Seek out inspiration and take it with you while you shop.Pinterest, blogs and other inspirational sites are wonderful to have but can sometimes be overwhelming with so many options producing such beautiful results. To keep it simple, I suggest printing off a little inspiration book to take with you while you shop. Give yourself a max of 10-15 photos so you don’t get too overwhelmed. Use this for ideas but don’t rely on it so heavily that you’re nervous to step outside your expectations. 2. Don’t overthink it!The beautiful thing about vintage is that regardless of color, shape, or balance, in the end – vintage looks good all mismatched. It is meant to be a little different and that’s what makes it unique and beautiful in the end. Embrace the differences and go with your gut while decorating. It will turn out great
3. Dust it off & Shine it up!

Flea Markets are a great place to find excellent vintage pieces for a reasonable price. But don’t be afraid to get your hands a little dirty! Remember that just because something doesn’t look sparkly surrounded by used extension cords and broken lamps (and whatever other random, kind of gross items you find at a Flea Market) doesn’t mean it’s not going to shine on your wedding day. Thinking outside the box is a great way to shop.

Have Fun & Happy Searching!
